On February 11th, “Friends of International Trade” met to learn about Free Trade Agreements including: NAFTA and U.S. Agreements with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea. Mike Allocca, from Allocca Enterprises, presented the day long seminar. Attendees learned how to determine if their products qualified for NAFTA, how to use the NAFTA Rules of Origin, how to understand preference criteria, and learned about other in-depth topics related to NAFTA including formulas for determining regional value content or a change in tariff classification. Jill McLaughlin from the Small Business Development Center at UCF, Paul Mitchell from Enterprise Florida, and Kenneth Mouradian from the U.S. Commercial Service Orlando Export Assistance Center spoke about next steps the attendees can take to increase their international trade. The day was sponsored by Orange County Government, JP Morgan Chase, and Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity.
